WOW:Disengage and trap changes coming to Wrath Beta

August 17th, 2008 by ageofaonanpowerleveling

With all the Hunter changes we’ve been promised in relation to PvP, one that has recently been announced may be the biggest yet.wow powerlevel Disengage will be getting a new trick.wow power leveling

In a future Beta build, Disengage will cause the Hunter to jump back from their target 10-15 yards. As a result of this buff, however, the cooldown will be extended to 30 seconds. wow powerleveling

This really is the change Hunters need, more that the recent Aspect of the Beast and Mongoose Bite changes by far. What we really needed is a way to get back to range, and between this and Master’s Call, we should now have a relatively dependable non-talented way of doing just that. 10-15 yards may seem a bit low, but it should be more than enough to get off a quick concussive shot, set a trap, or use a talented crowd control ability such as Intimidation, which will become instant cast rather than on next attack. world of warcraft power leveling

Another set of baseline ability changes has to do with traps, and should be very helpful in both PvE and PvP. Freezing Trap will no longer break on any damage, but will instead break on a set amount of damage — meaning a stray cleave or a miscast DoT won’t completely ruin you. wow power level With this new functionality, Bear Trap will be removed and replaced at level 80 with Camouflage, which is returning after being discarded. Since setting a trap won’t break Camouflage, it will become incredibly useful for setting PvP ambushes as well. world of warcraft powerleveling

There’s plenty of other exciting changes on the way for Hunters, including a talent tree revamp that’s currently up on Blizzard’s official Beta site. Look for analysis of that in the coming days on WoW Insider. It’s looking more and more like Wrath’s going to be a great time to be a Hunter, and we’re looking forward to seeing how the class plays with all their new toys at level 80, in both PvP and PvE. wow Gold

Inside the Realm War with Mythic Entertainment’s Scott Stricklin

August 16th, 2008 by ageofaonanpowerleveling

Questions by: Tony “RadarX” Jones and Brok “Brokain” Ferguson warhammer power level
Answers by: Scott Stricklin, Web Development Lead for Mythic Entertainment

If you have visited Mythic Entertainment’s Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning website recently you might have noticed a tab called “Realm War.” What does it mean? Descriptions such as providing “information on the tide of war with the state of objectives,” give a little insight into what it’s all about but we decided to go to the source. Mythic’s Web Development Lead Scott Stricklin shared with us not only their plan for Realm War, but what features it will provide..warhammer powerleveling

Ten Ton Hammer: Where does the Realm War fit into the game? warhammer powerlevel

Scott Stricklin: Our concept with the Realm War was to have an online source of information about the state of the game that people could reference when they weren’t able to play. So it very much fits into the Dark Age of Camelot Herald style of surfacing, RvR information, character information, and leaderboards.
warhammer power leveling
It makes that available to people 24/7.warhammer

Ten Ton Hammer: Will this information be accessible to people in the game?
warhammer gold

Keep Tabs on Your Side

Scott Stricklin: The information that appears on the web in some ways mimics what’s in game. In other ways, because it’s on the web we can sort of massage the data to put things together in a way that isn’t really possible in the game. For instance, the leaderboards are calculations which are run once a week and that’s something not available in the game. A lot of the character information which someone could obviously see their own and the state of the campaign would be available in game. warhammer
Ten Ton Hammer: Will there be a way for characters to view what equipment other players have? warhammer powerlevel

Scott Stricklin: It is going to show character information, stats, and equipment. Our original concept is just to make all of that available and once we get passed launch we’ll consider what kind of options we want to give people for display. On top of that the leaderboards are obviously open to everybody. We want people who are distinguishing themselves to sort of have their name in lights. They’ve achieved something and for the moment, they are and this shows everyone who are the real movers and shakers. warhammer power level

I think the real meat of the Realm War website is going to be the state of the war on any given server. A lot of what is exciting about RvR in Warhammer Online is the upper tier, sieging cities, and taking objectives. We want to make all that available to people so they can see exactly what their guild is doing or what sort of ownership they have. Is their server in trouble or has one side made a breakthrough? Those are the sorts of things we want ot make available.

Ten Ton Hammer: How often is this information updated?warhammer powerleveling

Scott Stricklin: We update close to every 30 seconds. There are some cases where you have a bit of a delay, but it’s never more than a minute. We want it to be very much updated. Particularly when you are talking about RvR, the whole battlefield can change in five minutes time. We want that to be as updated as you can get without physically being there.warhammer power leveling

Ten Ton Hammer: What do you find is the most exciting feature about the Realm War?

Scott Stricklin: For me I definitely like the RvR objective and campaign. That’s sort of my pet project mainly because I think just being able to get your finger on the pulse of this content is really interesting. Even people who aren’t playing are going to see the battlefield go back and forth and see how can they get involved and put their own stamp on a server. A lot of other MMO games I’ve played it’s a vast sea of the anonymous. We’re trying to give people an opportunity to rise above it if they have the dedication and the skill to do it. warhammer gold

Mike Morhaime apologizes, offers 3000 more BlizzCon tickets

August 16th, 2008 by ageofaonanpowerleveling

If you haven’t heard by now, there were some problems with Blizzcon tickets. A lot of problems. wow power leveling

However, it looks like even Blizzard now realizes that they could have done a lot better during those 2 days of Fail Murloc agony. Blizzard President Mike Morhaime has just posted a personal apology for all the trouble with tickets on the official BlizzCon site. wow powerleveling

In addition, he’s announced that they’ve rearranged their convention hall space and will be able to offer 3,000 additional tickets. wow Gold In order to avoid the problems of the last batch, they will be sold by a lottery system, and only sold to those with an active Blizzard account as of August 12th, 9 PM PDT, the time when the last batch of tickets was officially sold out. wow power level Further details on the lottery will be posted when they finalize their plans. world of warcraft powerleveling

Of course, There’s probably far more than 3,000 customers who were put out by the problems, but this is probably as much of an Olive branch as we can expect, given that they can’t overpack the convention halls and it’s likely too late to find or create a new, larger venue. world of warcraft power leveling

Hopefully, though, Blizzard is seriously when they say they will do what it takes to prevent this from happening in the future. We’ll look forward to buying our tickets for BlizzCon 2009 without the presence of the Fail Murloc.wow powerlevel

August 16th, 2008 by ageofaonanpowerleveling

Here’s some more information that may or may not assuage the rage if you weren’t one of the lucky few who fought past the Fail Murloc to get a BlizzCon ticket. wow power levelingDIRECTV subscribers will have the chance to get the BlizzCon bear mount. world of warcraft power leveling

DIRECTV will be selling a BlizzCon coverage package directly through the official BlizzCon site.wow powerleveling This package will be free to any new DIRECTV subscribers who sign up through the site, and cost $39.95 for anyone who’s already a DIRECTV subscriber. world of warcraft powerleveling

By purchasing the package, you’ll not only get 16 hours of BlizzCon coverage, you’ll also get the aforementioned BlizzCon bear mount, the same one that all the con attendees will get in their goodie bag.wow powerlevel Sounds like a pretty good incentive to me.wow Gold The package isn’t available for purchase yet, but keep watching the official BlizzCon website to find out when it will be. wow power level

Time Warner Cable customers experience World of Warcraft trouble

August 16th, 2008 by ageofaonanpowerleveling

Many of us with cable internet connections are well aware of the problems that arise when cable companies specifically block certain applications, such as the recent problems with Comcast blocking Bit Torrent. world of warcraft powerleveling

It looks like there may be a similar problem with Time Warner and Roadrunner Cable, as many of their customers have found to it difficult to impossible to play due to lag and latency issues for some time, reports the New York Post.
wow power level

To some extent, both TWC and Blizzard have been blaming each other for a while, with Time Warner claiming they have done nothing to block any packets or traffic related to World of Warcraft, and Blizzard pointing out that all of the players on the east coast with these problems are Time Warner/Roadrunner cable customers. wow Gold

It’s difficult to say if Time Warner is being genuine in their confusion, since other ISPs have lied about similar issues in the past, but there are signs they are taking this seriously. wow power leveling They have contacted Blizzard’s ISP, and players are saying that they have been contacted by Time Warner representatives looking to fix the problem. world of warcraft power leveling

Seeing the issue making it into print media, perhaps, will give them the extra initiative they need to get it completely sorted. wow power level

There can be no doubt that the age of Conan is going to be the most popular MMORPG this year if not for many years to come and as with a lot of these types of Age of Conan Gold games, the one who controls all the money (in this case Age of Conan Gold) can control the virtual world (or the server at very least!) . Warhammer online:2008 E3 Awards

August 15th, 2008 by ageofaonanpowerleveling

Hello and welcome to Voodoo Extreme’s Best of E3 2008 awards. While the show isn’t as big as it used to be, there was still plenty to see, and even judge for a little feature like this. I hope you enjoy reading these awards as much as I enjoyed going to parties and drinking all week long. Long live E3! warhammer gold
Best Action Game (PC)
Left 4 Dead
Developer: Valve Software
Publisher: Valve Software
Release Date: Nov. 08
Shown at E3 on the: PC
Also Appearing on the: 360

Why it won: Left 4 Dead was entertaining on many levels. It mixes the camaraderie of a four-player co-op experience with intense heat-pounding action, immersive audio and visual effects and of course – an awesome post-apocalyptic zombie/survival movie inspired setting. The gameplay is simple, fluid, and elegant. Left 4 Dead could be the sleeper hit of the year on the PC.

Best Action Game (Console)
Gears of War 2
Developer: Epic Games
Publisher: Microsoft
Release Date: Nov. 08
Shown at E3 on the: 360
Also Appearing on the: 360

Why it won: We might not have gotten the two-dollar demo of the single player game at E3 from Microsoft, but Epic was nice enough to get us into the Gears of War 2 after party for a little hands-on multiplayer time. I’m not the biggest console multiplayer person in the world, but if you liked Gears of War, I think it’s safe to say Gears of War 2 will be right up your alley. The new gameplay modes are a lot of fun and the new maps will feel like a refreshing breeze to veteran players and noobs alike. Gears of War 2 is badder than ever.

Best RPG (PC)
Dragon Age
Developer: Bioware
Publisher: EA
Release Date: Feb 2009
Shown at E3 on the: PC
Also Appearing on the: PC

Flash HD (118MB) / Flash SD (37MB)
Best RPG (Console)
Fallout 3
Developer: Bethesda
Publisher: Bethesda
Release Date: Oct. 08
Shown at E3 on the: 360
Also Appearing on the: PC & PS3

Why it won: No talky presentation or lecture to suffer through here. We actually got to play Fallout 3 for the first time at e3 this year. It was only for 30 minutes but I’ll take playing a game over listening to someone yammering about it any day of the week. Comfortable controls, quirky Fallout branded humor, and bloom-tastic visuals made for a very entertaining half-an-hour to say the least.

Best Massively Multiplayer Game
Warhammer Online
Developer: Mythic
Publisher: EA
Release Date: Oct 08
Shown at E3 on the: PC
Also Appearing on the: 360

Why it won: I was surprised at how few massively multiplayer games there were at E3 this year, but consensus was that Warhammer Online was by far the best of the lot. I was a big Dark Age of Camelot player, so here’s to hoping that Mythic hits one out of the park when WAR begins this Fall. Hopefully they get the shadow effects in by then so people will stop making fun of the screenshots.

Best Music/Rhythm Game
Rock Band 2
Developer: Harmonix
Publisher: MTV Games
Release Date: Sept. 08
Shown at E3 on the: 360
Also Appearing on the: PS2, PS3 & Wii

Why it won: The most fun I had playing anything at E3 this year was with Rock Band 2, but considering how much these music games cost to play, that’s to be expected. You could almost buy a new computer for the price of a compete band set. With that said: Rock Band 2 is going to rock your cock off!

Best Strategy Game
Empire: Total War
Developer: Creative Assembly
Publisher: SEGA
Release Date: Nov. 08
Shown at E3 on the: PC
Also Appearing on the: PC

Why it won: I was already a big fan of Total War’s Epic land wars. Slap realistic sea battles into the mix and I’m in strategy heaven. Empire: Total War’s graphics were nothing to sneeze at either.

Flash HD (80MB) / Flash SD (26MB)
Best Graphics
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky
Developer: GSC Game World
Publisher: Deep Silver
Release Date: Sept. 08
Shown at E3 on the: PC
Also Appearing on the: PC

Why it won: The best graphics award this year was hard to call. On one hand, we had Crysis Warhead. On the other, we have S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky. Warhead’s graphics looked exactly like Crysis (maybe a little watered down so they ran faster) while Clear Sky showed a significant visual improvement over S.T.A.L.K.E.R.’s visual prowess. Crysis Warhead crashing on me in the middle of playing didn’t help either. Clear Sky’s technological feature set is extremely impressive as well and the demo looked absolutely fabulous.

WMV HD (555MB) / WMV HD (193MB) / Flash HD (192MB) / Flash SD (61MB)
Best Artistic Design
MadWorld
Developer: PlatinumGames
Publisher: SEGA
Release Date: March 09
Shown at E3 on the: Wii
Also Appearing on the: Wii

Why it won: Like comic books? Enjoy over-the-top, gratuitous violence? Prepare to become happy as MadWorld has all of that plus oh-so much more. The bottom line is that any developer who can make a Wii game look that good deserves a firm pat on the ass. Great job! warhammer

Best Multiplayer Game
Left 4 Dead
Developer: Valve
Publisher: Valve
Release Date: Nov. 08
Shown at E3 on the: PC
Also Appearing on the: 360

Why it won: Left 4 Dead is really, really, really fun. Honest. If any game has a chance to topple Counter-Strike this is it. Hopefully we can play as The Infected next time and kill those pesky survivors.

E3 2008: Warhammer Online Preview

August 15th, 2008 by ageofaonanpowerleveling

In light of the recent announcements that Mythic would be cutting four classes and four cities, we really didn’t know what to expect as we sat down to have a chat with the team from Mythic Entertainment. Going in with an open mind, we were taken on a guided tour of all the new features in WAR by Adam Gershowitz. First stop on the tour was The Inevitable City where Adam showed us several high profile characters from the Warhammer IP who will make an appearance in the game once cities reache a certain status rank. Next we were shown the King’s throne room and given a brief explanation of the fight. Players can look forward to more than a simple encounter. While fighting the Chaos king portals to other dimensions will open sucking players into the void while chaos explodes all around them and the pillars holding up the room will begin to fall all around them. These things are just a taste of what players can expect from the more prestige PvE encounters in the game. warhammer

We were then introduced to the incredible additions Mythic has made to character customization. Mythic has taken the approach of Macro Customization by taking a page out of the FPS genre where a character’s silhouette says it all. “We want you to feel like you can look like your class right from the beginning”, said Adam as he described the various sets of armor players can obtain for each and every class. Referencing Dark Age of Camelot where players could often be picked out of a crowd from a mile away simply by what they were wearing, Adam told us of Mythic’s plan to feature over 114 colors for dyes drawing inspiration from Games Workshop. And yes, White dye WILL be in the game! warhammer powerleve

While Adam finished explaining to us the details of The Inevitable City he opened his inventory and activated his mount in a style very similar to World of Warcraft. Adam told us how players will be able to obtain mounts starting at level twenty and customize them similar to the character customizations we mentioned earlier but even before then they will be able to purchase temporary mounts or “Rent a mule” as Adam said in jest. These mounts are temporary with only a few charges and give everyone the opportunity to experience a mount. When asked about Mounted Combat and flying mounts we were told that they have not been ruled out but will not be in release. warhammer powerleveling

In a change of scenery we were whisked away to the next location where we were queued up for a Scenario on the beta server. Entering Nordwatch with actual beta testers, Adam gave us all the details on WAR’s combat and more specifically RvR in Scenarios. Watching him play as a Zealot, we were pleased to see how fluid and polished the gameplay appeared to be compared to past hands-on and even videos/trailers from the past few months. warhammer power level

Several additions have been made to RvR. By far the biggest additions are the Fortresses that not only fill the void left by the cities that were recently removed but also stand between players in tier 4 and the capital cities. Players must control 2/3 of these Fortresses in order to cause a capital city become vulnerable. These fortresses are much tougher than a regular keep and will offer players extra RvR goodness which is always a good thing. warhammer power leveling

During our preview Mythic showed us a feature they call the “Open Group System”. Have you ever played a game and seen players shouting things like “Level 45 Mage LFG!”? Perhaps you yourself have even advertised that you were looking for a PUG. With this new system those days are hopefully over. The Open Group System will give players a window that shows all the groups in your region that need more players. Additionally the system will show you how far you must travel to reach this group in real time, allow you to join their group instantly at the press of a button, see who is in the group, and see what the group is participating in such as a PQ or quest. This is yet another example of the simple yet extremely profound additions Mythic is making to mmorpgs. warhammer gold

As our preview came to a close we were told that the NDA is on its last leg and should be coming down in only a few weeks. This news, along with all that we saw in our preview, confirms that we have indeed entered into the Age of Reckoning.
